The goal of One World Dojo is to teach and practice the Taiso Daruma fitness system, Martial Arts for health, vitality, spirituality and self-defense. However, our goals are much loftier.
We follow a code of excellence in life. We strive to achieve the highest standard in everything we do. Our faculty is no exception. Accomplished in both professional careers and Martial Arts, they bring over a century of experience at the top of their fields, on and off the Dojo floor.
Roy Kenneth Kamen began studying Isshinryu Karate in 1965. His first Karate teacher was his brother, Robert Mark Kamen, creator and writer of “The Karate Kid”. Then, after a time studying Shotokan Karate under Toyotaro Miyazaki, he earned his second degree black belt in Traditional Okinawan GoJu-Ryu Karate and a first degree black belt in Okinawan Kobudo (Traditional Okinawan weaponry) in 1981 from Master Seikichi Toguchi, a first-generation student of the founder of GoJu-Ryu Grand Master Chojun Miyagi and Master Seiko Higa. Mr. Kamen currently holds an eighth-degree black belt awarded by Chi-I-Do International Chairman and Chief Instructor Kow Loon Ong, and authored the book: “Karate – Beneath The Surface”.
Mr. Kamen co-owns and operates Kamen Entertainment Group, Inc., a New York City based Entertainment Production company together with Marina Kamen, a Grammy Nominated Recording Artist and Certified Fitness Trainer. Kamen Entertainment Group has Produced over 40,000 Radio, Television, Films, Fitness, Music and Live Theater Productions winning over 140 industry awards. The Kamens have worked with hundreds of celebrities. Clients include: Verizon, American Express, Mercedes, Jet Blue, Kelloggs, Disney, Hasbro, AT&T, Sony, Priceline, Lancome, Kelloggs, etc. Mr. and Mrs. Kamen have been married for over thirty-eight years and have three adult children.
Dr. Elias Bonaros, MD began studying GoJu Ryu Karate in 1987 from Shihan William Louie of the Chinese American Goju-Ryu system. He attained first degree black belt in 1992 and also trained 6 years of Muay Thai kickboxing, four of them with Jeff “Duke” Roufus. Additionally Dr. Bonaros studied four years of Ji Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do under Grandmaster Sihak Henry Cho, and a year of Judo/JuJutsu with Kiyoshi Shina Sensei. Dr. Bonaros was introduced to Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido by Hanshi Steven Malanoski and Ufuchiku Kobudo by Hanshi Eddie Morales. In 2005, to broaden his understanding of the internal arts, he began to study Yi Jin Jing Qi Gong with Doctor Chi Wai Wong. He became deeply interested in Okinawan GoJu and has been practicing the Traditional Okinawan Goju-ryu One World Dojo’s Taiso Daruma since 2005. He presently holds the rank of seventh degree black belt from Shihan William Louie. Dr Bonaros holds the position of Health Advisor to the One World Dojo. Always refer to your own medical provider.
Dr. Bonaros received the MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency and fellowship at the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. Mr. Munoz began practicing Karate at the age of 13 earning his black belt in 1990 under Sensei Fernando Larrua of the Jyoshinmon Shorin-ryu school founded by master Hoshu Ikeda. In 1994, he switched to Shito-ryu after attending a seminar with Shihan Eduardo Valdés, coach of the Cuban national team. In 1997 he received his black belt from the Shito-kai group of Kyoshi Shoko Sato. Mr. Munoz moved to Canada in 1999, where he continued to practice Shito-ryu under Sensei André Pronovost, the regional representative of the Shito-kai group of Kyoshi Kunio Murayama. Mr. Munoz earned his fourth degree from the Shito-kai in 2018. He also practiced Kyokushin and judo for several years. Currently, Mr. Munoz teaches Shito-ryu Karate in Montreal, Canada and is an avid One World Dojo Taiso Daruma practitioner.
Mr. Munoz is an experienced software architect and published author who has several decades under his belt delivering complex computer systems that work. Specialized in microservice-oriented architectures and object-oriented design patterns and principles, Mr. Munoz has worked for companies from diverse industries, such as Sega (games), Exfo (fiber-optics equipment and networking), Synomos (artificial intelligence and security), CDPQ and Development Bank of Canada (financial). He currently works as a software architecture advisor for Desjardins, a well-reputed Canadian financial institution. Mr. Munoz has a Masters degree in Computer Science, homologated in 2001 in the United States, and is fluent in Spanish, French and English. Mr. Munoz is married for over 22 years and has two children.
Mr. Cesar Cámara Martin began his Martial Arts training in 1994 under Sensei Jose Luis Martín. Jose Luis Martín is a senior student of Choju Hentona in Spain, a student of Seikichi Toguchi, Shimpo Matayoshi, and Katsuyoshi Kanei. Mr. Cámara began training in 2009 under Masaji Taira, a direct student of Eichi Miyazato Sensei. He has practiced Muay Thai Boxing since 2007, studying Muay Thai Chaiya in Thailand from 2013 until 2018. Mr. Cámara holds a fifth degree black belt in Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate and first degree in Okinawan Kobudo awarded by The Zen Okinawan Kobudo Renmei.
Mr. Cámara is the Video editor and Visual graphics designer at SOM Produce, the leading musical theatre production company in Spain, and has worked and designed visuals and TV campaigns for musicals such as The Sound of Music, Avenue Q, Billy Elliot, West Side Story and the Spanish hit Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar. He is also a script writer for Comecaminos and Mangapolis. in Thailand, he taught the teaching program in Nongbuapittayakarn school, the biggest public school in Nongbualamphu province. Mr. Cámara is happily married since 2005 and has 3 children, born both in Thailand and Spain.
